Series H city street light on the main road to university

This project is located on the road leading to Petron Inti University. The road is a main road and the municipality decided to upgrade the lighting to improve safety. Traditional luminaires use high-pressure sodium lamps (HPS) as light sources and are installed on light poles on both sides of the road to provide basic lighting coverage. Considering the low color temperature (2700K) of traditional lamps, ZGSM recommends 165W, 2700K city street lights. Several months after the installation of the lamps, they are currently running well, and the illuminance has improved compared to before. Through the case pictures, we can see that there are still some lamps waiting to be replaced. Customers want a more in-depth look at the lifespan and failure rate of LED luminaires (long life reduces maintenance and replacement costs) before making a decision on the next step. ZGSM believes that our LED lamps also perform well in this respect.

In the lighting industry, CCT is often used to describe the color temperature of light, that is, the color of the light emitted by the light. Generally speaking, lights with a color temperature below 3000K are considered “warm”, and lights with a color temperature above 5000K are considered “cool”. Natural white refers to 4000K, while pure white refers to 5000K.

The relative color temperature is not directly related to the brightness of a light fixture. So why do many online opinions state that 6500K is brighter than 2700K or 3000K? ZGSM believes there are two main reasons for this perception: 1. High color temperature is associated with cool white light, which gives the impression of brightness. 2. According to the specifications of light sources, light fixtures with higher color temperatures often have a higher lumen output compared to those with lower color temperatures.

The recommended CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) can vary depending on the specific application and desired lighting effect. However, in general, for outdoor lighting such as street lighting, there are recommendations to not exceed a CCT of 3000K. Lower CCT values like 2700K and 2200K are often preferred. This is based on the concern that higher CCT light sources can disrupt animal circadian rhythms and increase sky brightness, as indicated by some environmental and astronomical organizations.
