What are the differences Between high bay models?
1. Traditional High Bays
Traditional high bay lights are classic pendant-style fixtures with a reflector, which is generally constructed of aluminum. The reflector was required due to the omnidirectional nature of the light sources utilized prior to LEDs. Light emitted from the bulb’s sides would be lost unless caught and directed downward by the reflector.
If you want to preserve your classic high bay fixtures, we propose replacing the metal halide bulbs inside with LED corn lights.
If, on the other hand, you want to modernize your design while also reducing your energy footprint, we propose replacing classic style high bays with one of the following LED high bay light fixtures:
2. Round High Bays
Because LED lighting is fundamentally more directed than metal halide or other light sources, these newer spherical LED high bays, sometimes known as “UFO” type lights, do not need reflectors. This enables a more compact, low-profile fixture design. These lights are high duty and IP65-rated, enabling them to be utilized in even the harshest of environments, such as industrial laundries, grain processing facilities, car washes, and barns. At the same time, they have a highly distinctive look, making them an excellent choice for any high-ceiling application, from aircraft hangars to the café section of a huge grocery store.
3. Panel-Style High Bays
These troffer-like LED high bays to resemble T5 and T8 fixtures and should not be mistaken for LED light panels. They disperse light across a broader area than spherical high bays. If you currently have T5 or T8 lights, these high bays are an appropriate (and stylish!) alternative.
If you currently have linear fluorescent lamps and wish to retain them, we offer extremely bright 4ft and extra bright 8ft LED tubes that give great illumination at install heights of more than 15 feet. Alternatively, you may retrofit fluorescent lamps with magnetic LED strips.
4. Warehouse Aisle Lights
These high bay lights feature beam angles developed primarily for use in high-ceiling, vertical-shelving applications such as warehouses, big grocery shops, and wholesale club stores.
