Series H LED street light head in Bukit Nenas highway

The project is situated on Bukit Nenas Highway, which serves as the expressway leading to Seremban city. To enhance the daily commuting experience for citizens, the local municipal council decided to upgrade the lighting along the expressway. The existing high-pressure sodium lamps were installed on 10-meter light poles, spaced 40 meters apart on a two-way, four-lane road with two hard shoulders. Based on this information, ZGSM recommends the ZGSM-LD135H and LD165H LED street light head. After conducting calculations, it was determined that the lighting outcome meets the M2 lighting level requirements specified by the EN13201 standard for motor vehicle lanes. Additionally, through life estimation using IEC 62722 and LM80 standards, ZGSM ensures that the project will continue to meet M2 lighting standards even after 10 years. This is attributed to the low light attenuation of LED lamps, resulting in a high LLMF value. The local municipal council highly appreciates the proposed solution from ZGSM. Presently, the street lights have been installed, and their lighting effect confirms the correctness of the chosen solution.

IEC 62722 is a standard issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), specifically named IEC 62722-2-1. The full name of the standard is “LED modules for general lighting – Performance requirements”, that is, “LED modules for general lighting – performance requirements”.IEC 62722 aims to standardize the performance requirements of LED modules for general lighting applications. In general, highways do not require lighting. Mainly based on two important reasons, 1. The vehicle’s own lighting system (headlights, taillights) and natural lighting are sufficient to provide visibility. 2. Since expressways are generally seen in connecting two distant cities, lighting the entire road requires a lot of energy consumption. However, in special cases, such as severe weather, low visibility or high traffic density areas, lighting facilities may be installed appropriately.

Road light poles generally have 4 meters (13 feet), 6 meters (20 feet), 8 meters (26-27 feet), 10 meters (33 feet), 12 meters (40 feet).
The specific height is determined comprehensively based on road type and function, road width and driving speed, lighting design and standards, surrounding environment and visibility.
