What are the advantages of using DALI?

There are several advantages of choosing a DALI system to control your LED lamps:

(1) DALI dimming addressable

In DALI dimming, each LED light will have an independent address and can communicate in two directions, which cannot be achieved by other dimming technologies (0-10V). It can use a signal line to connect all the lamps and then control them in any group, which can bring a lot of flexibility to the control.

(2) DALI dimming has strong anti-interference ability and wide dimming range

DALI dimmable driver integrates dimmer and driver, and the dimming range can basically be adjusted from 0% to 100% brightness adjustment, which truly realizes green energy saving. When the DALI dimming signal is adjusted to 10% and then lowered, there will be fewer problems like stability, flicker, noise and other, that is, the DALI dimming driver can dim smoothly and without flicker.

(3) DALI dimming is easy to install

For DALI system wiring, there are no special requirements for installing wires, and there is no polarity requirement during installation. It is only required that the main power line is isolated from the control line, and the control line does not need to be shielded. On the contrary, the traditional dimming technology wiring needs to separate the signal line from the power line, which increases the construction difficulty and workload.

OLC or CLO? What’s the difference?

CLO (Constant Lumen/Light Output) is a dimming function that compensates for lumen depreciation, which avoids using too much lighting during the initial stages of installation.

OLC (Output Lumen Compensation) is used to maintain a constant light output over the lifetime of the LEDs by driving them at a lower current when new and then gradually increasing the drive current to get higher output to counteract the LED lumen decay.

By definition, we can see that they actually refer to the same dimming function. That is, the lamp drives the LED lamp chips with a reduced current, and when the luminous flux of the LED chips decreases, we appropriately increase the drive current to increase the luminous flux of the lamp.

Which is better CC or CV?

Accepted Answer

No matter how much the voltage changes in the CC power supply, the current is kept at a relatively constant level; no matter how much the current changes in the CV power supply, the voltage is kept at a relatively constant level. They all have their own suitable lighting solutions, but for road lighting, stadium lighting and some other outdoor lighting, CC is a more reasonable choice.
