What is CRI and CCT?

CRI and CCT both refer to the quality of the light source, CCT is measured on the Kelvin scale, which describes the colour of light itself based on the concept of a blackbody radiator, a practical way of representing the colour of light numerically.LEDs are capable of achieving a variety of CCTs (1800-6500K), ranging from warm incandescent colour tones to cooler blue-white light. On the other hand, CRI quantifies the ability of a light source to accurately display the colour of an object compared to natural light, with higher CRI values indicating better colour rendering. Outdoor street lights generally require a CRI of >70, stadium lights of >80, and some indoor fixtures require even more.

What is the difference between CRI and TM-30?

The Color Rendering Index (CRI) was developed in the 1930s and updated in the 1970s. It is the first industry standard for measuring color performance under different light sources. Compared with CRI, the TM-30-18 report is more comprehensive, which is called Color Rendition Report. The report consists of three parts: the color fidelity index Rf, which indicates the color rendering performance of the light source is closer to natural light; the color saturation index Rg, which indicates the vividness of the color of the object under the light source; and the Vector Graphic, which intuitively displays the color shift and saturation change of a specific color under the measured light source.

From which report you can find the CRI value of LED lights?

We can find the CRI value of lamps in LM79 report, EN/IEC62722 report and ENEC+ report. LM79 refers to the American standard, while ENEC+ refers to the European standard. In the LM79 report, we can also find more information about the color reproduction ability of lamps, namely TM-30-18 report, which is also called color rendition report.
